If you're using Cygwin, you want to setup Ruby via Cygwin's setup.exe, but its probably already there. If not, go to http://www.cygwin.com/ and download the setup, then re-run it, selecting Ruby to install.

Thanks that works great...

Now that I have that running, do I now place my updated ruby ( 1.9.1 ) in the c:\cygwin folder somewhere ?
( cygwin was installed by 'e', but prior to this my Ruby installation was c:\ruby, and anything to do with this like rail apps etc lived in here ! )

TIA, Dave

Dave,

Run putty.exe from the Puttycyg package and pick Cygterm as the connection type, not SSH. Put "-" (minus the " marks) as the command, and click Open.

Thanks for the blog entries, really enjoy them.
I'm just upgrading my Ruby as per your latest post, and reread this one, but how do I run putty.

You say connect to my Cygwin instance, but not sure how. I just get the configuration dialog, but don't know what to do with it !
